Emily Gabriella Sommer, a 32-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, has pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting a government official. The charges are related to incidents that took place on May 8 and May 22, 2025, involving former U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and two Deputy United States Marshals.

According to court documents, the first incident occurred on May 8 when then-Interim U.S. Attorney Martin was conducting an on-camera interview outside the U.S. Attorney’s Office located in the 600 block of D Street NW in Washington, D.C. During this interview, Sommer approached Martin and asked, “Who in the f-- are you?” After confirming his identity as Ed Martin, she spit on his shoulder before leaving the scene while making further comments directed at him.

Law enforcement later identified an X account with the username @EmilyGabriellaS and display name “Lefttits” as likely belonging to Sommer. That evening, posts were made from this account referencing the incident.

A second incident occurred on May 22 when Deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Sommer. During her arrest, she spit on one marshal and kicked him shortly afterward; she also kicked another marshal during the encounter.

U.S. District Court Judge Jia M. Cobb has scheduled sentencing for October 10, 2025.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jacob Green and Joshua Gold.

“I want to congratulate U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro, and her trial prosecutors Josh Gold and Jake Green, for the professional and respectful manner they handled this case and bringing it to a successful conclusion,” said U.S. Pardon Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr., who also serves as Director of the Weaponization Working Group for the Department of Justice.
