A Kansas man from El Dorado has been sentenced to 126 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing child sexual abuse materials. David M. Follett, 38, admitted to one count of distribution of child pornography.

According to court documents, Follett used his computer on several occasions to share child pornography with others through a peer-to-peer filesharing network. One of the recipients was an agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Authorities executed a search warrant at Follett’s residence and found evidence of child pornography activities on his laptop.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart.

"This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
