Philadelphia man indicted for impersonating federal officer during robbery

A Philadelphia man has been indicted on charges of impersonating a federal officer and committing robbery at an auto repair shop. According to United States Attorney David Metcalf, Robert Rosado, 44, was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on June 8, 2025.

The indictment states that Rosado entered an auto repair shop located on the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. He allegedly identified himself as a federal immigration officer before restraining a female employee and stealing $1,000 from the business.

If found guilty, Rosado could face up to 23 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which brings together law enforcement agencies and community members to address violent crime and gun violence. The Department of Justice strengthened its PSN strategy on May 26, 2021 by focusing on building trust within communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence, setting targeted enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Ashley N. Martin and Special Assistant United States Attorney Meghan A. Farley are prosecuting the case.

“The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in court,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
