An Akron resident, Justin A. Corn, 30, has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Benita Y. Pearson on August 12, 2025.
Corn admitted to one count each of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. In addition to the prison term of 140 months, he will serve six years of supervised release following his incarceration. The court also ordered Corn to forfeit $4,740 seized during his arrest.
Court records show that Akron police attempted a traffic stop on Corn, who then led officers on a high-speed chase through a residential neighborhood at speeds reaching up to 80 miles per hour. The pursuit ended after Corn crashed into three civilian vehicles and then drove onto a sidewalk before fleeing the scene on foot. Officers searched his vehicle and found nearly 400 grams of methamphetamine, over 320 grams of fentanyl, and more than 30 grams of cocaine.
Authorities learned during their investigation that Corn had five prior convictions related to drug trafficking offenses. Due to this history, Judge Pearson designated him as a career offender at sentencing.
The case was investigated by the DEA Detroit Division’s Akron Field Office in partnership with the Akron Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Peter E. Daly prosecuted the case for the Northern District of Ohio.
National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day will be observed on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Additional information is available at dea.gov/fentanylawareness.
