A Beaumont resident has been sentenced to federal prison for trafficking fentanyl, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.
Marsel Brejon Davis, 33, received a sentence of 27 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Michael Truncale on August 19, 2025.
Court records show that law enforcement conducted a search of Davis’s residence on August 31, 2023, following observations of him selling narcotics. During the search, officers found 31.16 grams of fentanyl. Davis admitted he possessed the fentanyl with the intention of distributing it to others.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is often used as an analgesic or anesthetic and is significantly more potent than other opioids. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), fentanyl is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and about 50 times stronger than heroin.
The investigation was carried out by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Beaumont Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Grove prosecuted the case.
