Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa
Alan Eugene Beier, 61, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, has been sentenced to federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on August 19, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa.
According to evidence presented during the plea and sentencing hearings, Beier was stopped by a Clear Lake Police Department officer on September 14, 2024. The officer had responded to a driving complaint about a dark colored motorcycle with a dim headlight and no taillights. After locating the motorcycle and conducting a traffic stop, Beier was arrested for driving infractions.
A search of Beier and his motorcycle led law enforcement officers to recover $864 in cash, 10 grams of cocaine, 82 grams of marijuana, and 235 grams of methamphetamine. Beier admitted that he had purchased the drugs for $2,600 in Minnesota before being stopped and intended to sell the methamphetamine in Northern Iowa.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Beier to 42 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole. Beier will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal until he is transported to federal prison.
