A Lufkin resident has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Preston Allen, 58, admitted guilt on August 19, 2025, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christine L. Stetson for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court records state that on February 3, 2025, law enforcement arrived at Allen’s home in Lufkin to execute a warrant. Deputies found Allen outside holding an AR-15 style rifle. He was ordered to put down the weapon and was then taken into custody. Authorities later confirmed that Allen is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess firearms.

The actual sentence will be determined by the court after considering advisory guidelines and other legal factors following a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
