A Claremore man has been sentenced following his conviction for sexual abuse of a minor and abusive sexual contact in Indian Country. Ryan Duke Haight, 45, was found guilty by a federal jury in May on one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor and two counts of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor. However, the court acquitted him of one count of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor after the trial.
U.S. District Judge Frizzell handed down a sentence of 120 months in prison to Haight, along with 15 years of supervised release after completion of his sentence. Haight is also required to register as a sex offender upon release and pay $3,353.70 in restitution.
Trial evidence showed that Haight made inappropriate comments to the 14-year-old victim and touched her without consent under various circumstances. The physical contact escalated over time, culminating in an incident where Haight offered a massage as a "prize" for winning a bet and then sexually abused the victim.
Haight will stay in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Rogers County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephen Scaife and Kate Brandon.
