U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited Oxford, Mississippi as part of her Returning Education to the States Tour. During her visit, she read to students and took part in a literacy roundtable at the Oxford Early Childhood Center, accompanied by Mississippi Congressman Trent Kelly. Later, Secretary McMahon toured the University of Mississippi, meeting with university leaders and visiting the athletics facility.

"Mississippi has made remarkable strides in early literacy through focused state leadership and a return to the fundamentals. It was a joy to start my morning by reading to students in Oxford and witnessing the Mississippi Miracle firsthand,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. “At Ole Miss, I had productive conversations about the federal-state partnership to save college sports and support student-athletes' success on and off the field. These experiences will help inform our ongoing efforts to encourage local involvement in education across the nation.”

Photos from Secretary McMahon’s visit are available for both her stop at Oxford Early Childhood Center and her tour of the University of Mississippi.
