Boone County man receives 12-year sentence for armed cocaine trafficking

A Boone County resident, Osvaldo Pardo, 33, from Florence, Kentucky, has been sentenced to 144 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning.

Court documents show that in February 2025, law enforcement used a confidential source to purchase cocaine from Pardo at a motel in Florence. Later that month, officers searched his motel room and found 807.4 grams of cocaine and $1,440 in cash. They also discovered nearly three kilograms of marijuana, a pistol, a digital scale, and a money counter. Pardo admitted ownership of these items and acknowledged that the firearm was used to support his drug trafficking activities.

Under federal guidelines, Pardo is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for release. Once released from prison, he will remain under lifetime supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.

"Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Orville O. Greene, Special Agent in Charge, DEA Detroit Field Division; and Chief Jeff Mallery, Florence Police Department, jointly announced the sentencing."

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Florence Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Winslow prosecuted the case.
