Lewiston man admits to cyberstalking in federal court

A Lewiston resident, Brent Ouellette, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland to cyberstalking charges on Thursday. According to court documents, Ouellette, 33, conducted a series of actions against his victim that included posting sexually explicit images and videos online without consent. He also contacted the victim while pretending to be other people and obtained the victim’s social media login information.

Ouellette could face up to five years in prison and a fine as high as $250,000. Sentencing will occur after the U.S. Probation Office completes a presentence investigative report. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and additional statutory factors.

The case was investigated by the FBI with help from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
