A Mexican national, Miguel Gomez-Sanchez, was sentenced to 10 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen for illegally reentering the United States after a previous removal. Gomez-Sanchez, 45, pleaded guilty on June 26, 2025.
Court records indicate that Gomez-Sanchez was arrested by the Maine State Police on May 10, 2025, for operating under the influence on Interstate 95. Following his arrest, agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) discovered that he had been removed from the United States several times in the past. His most recent removal occurred in 2022 after a conviction for illegal reentry.
The investigation into this case was conducted by ICE ERO.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative of the Department of Justice designed to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
