Independence man indicted on federal child pornography charges

Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa

A 23-year-old man from Independence, Iowa, Jordan Michael Million, has been indicted on federal child pornography charges. The indictment was unsealed on August 20, 2025, in the United States District Court in Cedar Rapids.

According to court documents, Million is charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that between April 2024 and December 2024, Million received child pornography. It also states that during this period he possessed child pornography on an Apple cellular telephone and, from October 2024 to December 2024, on a Motorola cellular telephone.

If convicted on all counts, Million faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to forty years’ imprisonment. He could also be fined up to $750,000 and ordered to pay $84,300 in special assessments. A lifetime term of supervised release may follow any prison sentence.

Million appeared in federal court in Cedar Rapids and was ordered held without bond.

Authorities emphasize that a charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. "Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims," according to information provided by authorities. More details about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.usdoj.gov/psc.

Assistant United States Attorney Devra T. Hake is prosecuting the case. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Marshalltown Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Independence Police Department, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, and Cedar Bend Humane Society.
