Nacogdoches man pleads guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearms charges

A Nacogdoches man has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to drug trafficking and firearms violations, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.

Jonathan McArthur Brewer, 55, entered his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christine L. Stetson on August 26, 2025. He admitted to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Court records show that on June 30, 2024, local law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire and saw Brewer leaving the scene in a vehicle that matched the suspect’s description. After a high-speed chase, officers stopped Brewer and searched his vehicle, finding a firearm and a significant quantity of methamphetamine. Authorities later confirmed that Brewer is a convicted felon who is not allowed to possess firearms.

Brewer was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 15, 2025. He could face up to life in prison when sentenced. The final sentence will be determined by the court after considering advisory guidelines and statutory factors following an investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
