ENRIQUE TORRES-BEIZA, also known as “Enrique B. Torres,” was sentenced to 18 months in prison for reentering the United States after being previously deported. The sentencing took place on August 14, 2025, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson for the Eastern District of Louisiana. In addition to the prison term, Torres-Beiza received one year of supervised release and must pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
Court documents state that Torres-Beiza had been deported from the United States on December 26, 2018. He was found unlawfully present in the country on or about October 26, 2024, while he was housed at Terrebonne Parish Jail in Terrebonne, Louisiana. At that time, he was serving a sentence for a second offense of driving under the influence.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, which is described as a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation uses resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commented on those involved in investigating the case: “Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter.” The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice, Jr., of the General Crimes Unit.
