Frailyn Argueta-Jeronimo, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national, pleaded guilty on August 12, 2025, to reentering the United States after being previously deported. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson. Sentencing is scheduled for November 12, 2025, before Judge Zainey.
Court documents state that Argueta-Jeronimo was discovered in Terrytown, Louisiana on March 27, 2025. Federal agents conducting targeted enforcement operations observed a maroon Toyota Tundra arrive at a residence and pick up a Hispanic male. The vehicle was registered to another Guatemalan national who had been removed from the United States multiple times before. After stopping the vehicle based on prior intelligence about the residence, agents identified Argueta-Jeronimo as a passenger and he admitted to being in the country illegally.
Argueta-Jeronimo had previously been deported on February 6, 2020. He now faces up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
The case falls under Operation Take Back America. This initiative coordinates resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) programs with the goal of reducing illegal immigration and combating transnational criminal organizations.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the United States Border Patrol for its investigative work in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice, Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is prosecuting.
"ARGUETA-JERONIMO was found in the United States on March 27, 2025, having reentered the United States without authorization from the Attorney General of the United States, after being previously deported on February 6, 2020," according to court documents.
"Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)," officials stated.
"Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson praised the work of the United States Border Patrol in investigating this matter."
