A California man has been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven handed down the sentence to Jacob Paul Arjona, 32, of Bakersfield, California, after he pleaded guilty in December 2024.
Court documents state that Arjona worked with others to distribute over 500 kilograms of methamphetamine in the Middle District of Florida. On October 11, 2023, law enforcement observed Arjona deliver 50 pounds of methamphetamine to co-defendant Mario Espino at a residence in Holiday, Florida. After leaving the home in a rideshare vehicle, deputies from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office stopped the car and found over $110,000 believed to be drug proceeds.
Espino also pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 22 years and six months for his part in the conspiracy.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney David P. Sullivan prosecuted it.
