Augustin Borja-Gaona, a 56-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
Borja-Gaona was previously removed from the United States in 1999, 2002, 2007, and 2012. According to court documents, he was found in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma on March 19, 2025. Authorities stated that he did not have permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission into the country.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, along with assistance from the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative is described as using resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and related criminal activity by coordinating efforts through Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
