The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced the allocation of over $818 million in grants to 235 organizations nationwide, aimed at assisting Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Grant recipients were selected based on their experience and track record in delivering supportive services to Veteran families, as well as the level of need within their communities. The funding, which will be distributed throughout fiscal year 2026, is intended to help local organizations provide Veterans with access to housing, housing counseling, health care, financial planning services, childcare, legal assistance, and transportation.

“Supportive services like childcare, housing counseling and financial planning can be important catalysts for preventing or resolving homelessness,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “These grants will help bring crucial support to thousands of Veterans in need across the nation.”

The funds are being provided through the VA’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program. This initiative offers case management and a range of supportive services designed to prevent the imminent loss of a Veteran’s home, find new housing options for individuals and families, and quickly re-house those who are currently homeless and would likely remain so without assistance.

Additional information about the program is available on the VA website: https://www.va.gov/homeless/ssvf/.
