The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has entered into two strategic partnerships with MEJA Construction Inc. to promote safety and health during major construction projects in Henry and Clayton counties.

The agreements focus on the Henry County school construction project in Stockbridge and the Riverdale Early Learning Center project in Riverdale. The partnerships aim to prevent worker injuries and reduce exposure to hazards through a collaborative approach between contractors and government agencies.

As part of these initiatives, contractors will receive assistance in developing safety and health management systems, training employees, employers, and supervisors, conducting regular self-inspections, and monitoring chemicals where workers may face potential hazards. The Georgia Tech Institute of Technology On-site Safety and Health Consultation will participate as a stakeholder, providing support particularly for small employers serving as subcontractors.

The Henry County school construction involves demolishing the existing Stockbridge Elementary gymnasium and Patrick Henry High School. This will be followed by building a new 9,804-square-foot gymnasium for the elementary school and constructing the 171,855-square-foot Henry County STEM High School.

In Riverdale, the Early Learning Center project covers 9.3 acres with a planned 90,000-square-foot facility. Features include a full-service kitchen, cafeteria, gymnasium, media center, art and music rooms, 24 classrooms, and collaboration spaces.

"OSHA’s Strategic Partnership Program engages employers, workers, and industry groups to achieve measurable improvements in workplace safety and health," according to OSHA officials.
