York man receives over 12 years for drug trafficking conviction

Joseph Gallego, 37, of York, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for drug trafficking. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Keli M. Neary on August 28, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Gallego pleaded guilty on October 18, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Law enforcement officials from the York County Drug Task Force conducted surveillance at a residence in York County where Gallego was seen entering. Officers encountered two other individuals at the door and found Gallego in the basement during a safety sweep. With consent to search the property, officers recovered a loaded Glock model 40 semiautomatic pistol, over 76 grams of cocaine base in one bag and just over one gram in another bag, as well as a digital scale.

The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the York County Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Ford prosecuted the case.

"This case is part of Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."
