Chicago man receives 30-month sentence for escape from federal custody

A Chicago resident, Terrance Martice Miller, 38, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for escaping from custody. The sentencing took place in Davenport, Iowa.

Court documents and evidence presented at the sentencing indicate that Miller left a Residential Reentry Center (RRC) where he had been ordered to reside after violating the terms of his supervised release. He did not return to the facility as required.

While on escape status from the RRC in May 2024, Miller strangled an adult female victim until she was unable to breathe. After being charged with assault related to this incident, Miller made more than 80 phone calls to the victim attempting to persuade her to drop the criminal charges.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentence. The United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation into this case.
