Country Eggs, LLC, based in Lucerne Valley, California, has issued a recall for its Large Brown Cage Free “Sunshine Yolks” eggs due to the potential risk of Salmonella contamination. The recall affects products distributed in California and Nevada through grocery stores and food service distributors.

The affected eggs were sold under several retail brand names, including Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, and Nijiya Markets, with sell-by dates ranging from July 1, 2025 to September 18, 2025. Bulk packaging for foodservice was also included in the recall for the same date range.

Salmonella can cause serious infections especially in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, diarrhea (which can be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can lead to more severe illnesses such as arterial infections or endocarditis.

According to Country Eggs, there have been 92 reported illnesses associated with this issue but no deaths have been reported so far.

“The potential for contamination was noted after being brought to our attention by the FDA and other authorities that our product may contain the presence of Salmonella.”

Production of the recalled eggs has been suspended while an investigation is underway by both Country Eggs and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to determine the source of contamination.

“This recall is being made with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration.”

Customers who purchased any of these eggs are advised to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely. For further questions, consumers can contact Country Eggs at 1 (800) 722-3447 during business hours or email INFO@countryeggsllc.com.
