Green Lumber Holding, LLC has issued a consumer alert after counterfeit products falsely labeled as genuine Green Lumber were found in the market. The alert follows testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which detected tadalafil—an undeclared prescription drug—in products marked as Green Lumber. Authentic Green Lumber products do not contain tadalafil.
The company’s internal investigation determined that a former employee diverted legitimate packaging and customer information to distribute counterfeit, adulterated product. That employee has been terminated.
Consumers are advised to verify authenticity by checking for Lot Number LOTGLU13101b1EXP0926 on blister packs. Counterfeit items do not have this lot number. Packaging differences between authentic and counterfeit blister packs can be seen in comparison images provided by the company.
Tadalafil is available only by prescription, and its presence in these products poses significant health risks. Individuals taking nitrates or certain medications for heart disease or blood pressure may experience dangerous side effects, including potentially life-threatening drops in blood pressure.
Consumers are urged to stop using any product not bearing the specified lot number, report suspected counterfeits to both Green Lumber and the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program, and seek medical attention if they experience unexpected side effects.
“Consumer safety is our number one priority,” said Brett Hales, President. “We acted swiftly after FDA’s testing identified tadalafil in a product labeled as ours. Our investigation revealed that an employee had been diverting our packaging and customer channels to sell counterfeit goods. That individual has been terminated, and we have strengthened our safeguards to protect customers and ensure this does not happen again.”
Green Lumber stated it is working with the FDA and law enforcement agencies to address the issue and protect consumers.
