Anacleto Silva-Herrera, a 40-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, was sentenced on August 20, 2025 by United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo. Silva-Herrera had previously pleaded guilty to two counts: conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. He received a sentence of 37 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.
Court documents show that Silva-Herrera and his co-conspirators distributed and possessed multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine within the Eastern District of Louisiana. He transported kilogram amounts of cocaine as well as proceeds from narcotics sales for a co-conspirator who is identified as a known Mexico-based source.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans Field Division Office. Other agencies involved included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Border Patrol, Gretna Major Crimes Task Force, Kenner Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman from the Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.
The case was investigated under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program. OCDETF focuses on identifying and dismantling major criminal organizations through collaboration among multiple agencies using intelligence-driven strategies.
