Scott County man receives over seven years in prison for armed fentanyl trafficking

A Georgetown, Kentucky man has been sentenced to 93 months in federal prison for fentanyl trafficking and possessing a firearm during drug trafficking. Marvelous Davis, 26, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell.

According to court documents, Davis was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by law enforcement on November 12, 2024. During the search, officers found an unserialized “ghost gun” under his seat and 39.7 grams of pressed pills containing fentanyl. Davis admitted he intended to distribute the drugs and that he possessed the firearm to support his drug trafficking activities.

Federal law requires Davis to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for release. After completing his prison term, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for three years.

Paul McCaffrey, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Olivia Olson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Louisville Field Division; Phillip J. Burnett, Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police; Chief Lawrence Weathers of the Lexington Police Department; and Chief Darin Allgood of the Georgetown Police Department announced the sentencing.

The case was investigated by multiple agencies including the FBI, Kentucky State Police, Lexington Police Department, and Georgetown Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Melton prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence through coordinated efforts among law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The Department launched an updated violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021 aimed at fostering trust in communities, supporting prevention efforts by local organizations, focusing enforcement priorities strategically, and measuring outcomes.
