A Nicaraguan national, Marco Orlando Vado, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed. The sentencing took place on August 26 before Senior U.S. District Judge Paul C. Huck.
Vado, 66, pleaded guilty to illegal reentry and received a 60-month sentence that will run consecutively to a separate 72-month term he was given in June 2024 in Broward County. That earlier sentence was for violating probation related to a drug trafficking conviction and followed his guilty plea in Miami-Dade County to attempted sexual battery of a minor under the age of 12.
Court records show that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) first encountered Vado in November 2009 after learning about his conviction for trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine in Broward County, which resulted in six years of probation. He was deported to Nicaragua on December 23, 2009.
Despite his removal from the country, Vado was again found in the United States on April 22, 2022, following an arrest by the North Miami Beach Police Department for attempted sexual battery of a minor under the age of 12.
The announcement regarding Vado’s sentencing was made by U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida and Field Officer Director Garrett Ripa of ICE Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO), Miami Field Office.
