U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry seized more than $238,000 worth of narcotics in a single incident over the weekend, according to agency officials.
The seizure took place on August 31 at the Camino Real International Bridge. Officers referred a 2025 Nissan Frontier, driven by a 46-year-old Mexican citizen, for secondary inspection. During this process, CBP officers used both canine units and nonintrusive inspection technology. A physical search revealed packages hidden within the liner of a cooler containing approximately 22.7 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 2.3 pounds of suspected cocaine.
The estimated street value of the narcotics is $238,915.
CBP confiscated both the drugs and the vehicle involved in the case. The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office arrested the driver and has started a criminal investigation.
“This significant seizure was possible because of the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers put forth on a daily basis,” said Port Director Pete Beattie, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
CBP describes itself as America’s largest law enforcement organization and says its workforce protects national security through various means including innovation and collaboration.
