Rep. Mike Flood, U.S. Representative for Nebraska's 1st District | Facebook Website
U.S. Congressman Mike Flood of Nebraska has expressed approval following the decision by Google/YouTube TV and Disney/Hulu + Live TV to include C-SPAN in their streaming services. Flood said, "This morning’s announcement that both YouTube TV and Hulu will add C-SPAN to their offerings is great news for public access to the work of Washington and transparency in our government." He emphasized that since its inception in 1979, C-SPAN has provided comprehensive coverage of Capitol Hill proceedings, and the addition of this network to popular streaming platforms allows more Americans to access government activities directly.
Flood, who represents Nebraska's 1st district after replacing Jeff Fortenberry in 2022, has been active in advocating for this inclusion. He led a bipartisan letter to streaming networks, delivered a speech on the floor about the issue, and co-authored an op-ed with Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon.
The congressman hopes other streaming services will follow suit in making governmental proceedings more accessible to the public.
