New Orleans man sentenced to over 14 years for cocaine distribution conspiracy

KEVIN TYLER, II, also known as “City,” was sentenced on August 27, 2025, in New Orleans federal court after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. Tyler, 48, received a sentence of 170 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee.

Court documents state that Tyler and his co-conspirators distributed and possessed multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine within the Eastern District of Louisiana. Tyler was involved in transporting kilogram quantities of cocaine as well as proceeds from narcotics sales as part of the conspiracy.

The case was investigated under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which targets high-level criminal organizations through a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven approach involving multiple agencies. The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans Field Division Office with assistance from several law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, United States Border Patrol, Gretna Major Crimes Task Force, Kenner Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman of the Narcotics Unit is prosecuting the case.
