Segundo Juan Maynato-Guaman, a 46-year-old citizen of Ecuador, pleaded guilty to the charge of re-entry of a removed alien in federal court in Rochester, New York. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Following his plea before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr., Maynato-Guaman was sentenced to time served and transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani, on June 25, 2025, Border Patrol agents stopped the vehicle driven by Maynato-Guaman at Brockport-Spencerport Road and Washington Street in Rochester. During the stop, he told agents he was from Ecuador and provided a New York State identification card under the name Segundo Mainato-Guaman. When asked about his immigration status, Maynato-Guaman admitted he did not have legal documents to be in the United States. A records check revealed that he had been physically removed from the country in December 2009.
"This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime," according to the statement released by authorities.
