Pennsylvania man sentenced to 10 years for Wheeling bank robbery

Frank L. Morrison, a 59-year-old resident of Braddock Hills, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison following his conviction for robbing a bank in Wheeling, West Virginia.

According to court records, Morrison entered the United Bank branch in Elm Grove in September 2018 and took $4,200 before fleeing on foot. Authorities reported that he discarded his mask and other items into a nearby dumpster. Investigators later recovered these materials and used DNA evidence from the mask to identify Morrison as the suspect.

Morrison has previous convictions for armed bank robbery, robbery, and access device fraud.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clayton Reid and Carly Nogay. The investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia State Police, and the Wheeling Police Department.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the sentencing.
