Devante Thomas, a 32-year-old resident of Saginaw, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., who was joined by James Deir, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington handed down the sentence after Thomas pleaded guilty to the charge.
Court documents state that in January 2025, Michigan State Police stopped Thomas’s vehicle on I-75 in Birch Run and discovered more than four kilograms of methamphetamine. Following this stop, agents from the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and ATF executed a search warrant at Thomas’s home. There they found an additional 579 grams of methamphetamine, 27 grams of fentanyl, 108 grams of cocaine, and four firearms.
The investigation involved cooperation between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant United States Attorney William Orr prosecuted the case.
"Devante Thomas, 32, of Saginaw was sentenced today to 180 months in federal prison for his possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it," U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr. announced.
