Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with Wang Yi, China’s Director of the Office of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Foreign Minister. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Secretary Rubio stressed the need for open and constructive communication between the United States and China on various bilateral topics. The conversation also covered other global and regional matters, building on previous discussions that took place in Kuala Lumpur.
Both officials addressed ongoing issues affecting their countries’ relationship as well as broader international concerns. The call is part of continued diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
