The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a nominations hearing for several federal positions on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who chairs the committee, announced that the hearing will begin at 10:00 AM EST in the Russell Senate Office Building.
The session will start with an executive meeting to reconsider Dr. Neil Jacobs’ nomination as Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere (NOAA Administrator). Dr. Jacobs was previously advanced to the full Senate by a bipartisan voice vote. The committee is holding another vote due to potential changes in how nominations are handled on the Senate floor.
Following this session, the committee will consider three nominees: Michael Graham of Virginia for membership on the National Transportation Safety Board; Ethan Klein of New Jersey as Associate Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy; and Joyce Meyer of Virginia as Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs.
Senator Cruz stated, “The hearing will stream live on the Committee web site and YouTube.”
