Eric Michael Robinson, 33, of Buffalo, New York, has been sentenced to two years’ probation, including six months of home detention, after being convicted of conspiracy to commit mail theft. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright stated that in October 2024, Robinson conspired with Lamor Runell Bolden and Antonio Jones, Jr. to steal mail from receptacles in Cheektowaga, New York. The group possessed a key used to open authorized mail receptacles.
According to the prosecution, Robinson drove Bolden and Jones to a mail facility in Cheektowaga at about 1:00 a.m. on October 2, 2024. While Robinson remained in the car as lookout behind a row of blue collection mailboxes outside the postal facility, Jones used the stolen key to open the boxes and remove mail while Bolden assisted him. Afterward, all three left the scene together.
Law enforcement stopped their vehicle shortly after leaving the facility and found various opened and unopened pieces of mail inside the car. Robinson admitted that he and his co-conspirators had used the stolen key at other locations within the Western District of New York.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service under Special Agent-in-Charge Ketty Larco-Ward of the Boston Division and by the Cheektowaga Police Department led by Chief Brian Coons.
