Chetak LLC Group has expanded its voluntary recall of Deep-branded frozen vegetables and fruit products due to the risk of Salmonella contamination. The recall, which began on July 16, 2025, now includes additional lots of products that were manufactured on the same equipment between December 18, 2024, and August 18, 2025.
Salmonella can cause serious infections in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms in healthy individuals may include fever, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream and lead to more severe conditions such as arterial infections or endocarditis.
Several Deep-brand frozen vegetable products tested positive for Salmonella. These include Frozen Deep-brand Sprouted Mat (Moth) with lot numbers IN 24353K, 24354K, and 25072K; Frozen Deep-brand Sprouted Moong (Mung), Lot IN 25058K; Frozen Deep-brand Premium Select Surti Undhiu Mix, Lot IN 25158K; and Frozen Deep-brand Premium Select Singoda, Lot IN 25150K.
The affected products were distributed nationwide in retail stores. They are packaged in flexible plastic bags with lot numbers and use-by dates listed on the back panel. Additional recalled lots of sprouted mung and moth beans include: 24330, 24297, 24291 and 24292.
No illnesses have been directly reported in connection with this issue so far.
"If you have any of the products with the lot numbers listed above, please immediately stop use, and discard or return product to your point of purchase. For all other frozen vegetables, please cook thoroughly."
Production of these items has been suspended while Chetak investigates the source of contamination.
