Dominican man sentenced for illegal reentry after prior drug convictions

Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice

A Dominican national living unlawfully in Boston has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after being deported.

Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, 29, received a sentence of 37 months in prison and two years of supervised release from U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy. After completing his federal sentence, Tejada Hernandez will be subject to deportation. He pleaded guilty in June 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry by a deported alien after being indicted by a federal grand jury earlier that year.

Authorities stated that Tejada Hernandez originally entered the United States at an unknown time and location without legal authorization. In March 2020, he was convicted in Chelsea District Court on charges including possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B controlled substances. Following these convictions, he was deported from the United States in August 2021.

Tejada Hernandez returned unlawfully sometime after his removal. On February 1, 2024, he was convicted again—this time in Suffolk County Superior Court—for possession with intent to distribute and distribution of a Class A controlled substance. He is currently serving a three-year state prison sentence related to those charges.
