A Corpus Christi man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
Robert Hall, 62, pleaded guilty on March 3, 2022. U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton ordered Hall to serve a sentence of 120 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The court noted that there were no arguments presented that could change the mandatory sentence required by law.
The case stems from a traffic stop conducted on March 16, 2019, in Corpus Christi. During the stop, law enforcement searched Hall’s vehicle and found a black backpack containing about 54 grams of methamphetamine along with a scale and unused plastic baggies.
Hall admitted he was aware of the methamphetamine in the backpack and said he was transporting it to deliver to another individual in Corpus Christi.
He remains in custody pending transfer to a facility operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The investigation was carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley A. Pruitt prosecuted the case.
