Travis Davies, a 47-year-old resident of Vernal, Utah, has been sentenced to over eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. The sentencing includes 97 months’ imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release.
Court documents show that on November 9, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Davies’ home and seized 296 blue fentanyl pills weighing approximately 33 grams. Officers also found a digital scale and several small plastic baggies during the search.
Authorities stated that Davies was already known as a distributor of fentanyl and was apprehended with the pills while on pretrial release for other drug trafficking cases. He has also faced allegations of obstructing justice during ongoing investigations related to drug trafficking.
The FBI Salt Lake City Field Office’s Vernal Resident Agency led the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Sam Pead prosecuted the matter for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah.
According to officials, “This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).”
