A Kaukauna man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison following a conviction for drug trafficking. John R. Sloan, 58, received a 150-month sentence on September 15, 2025, for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, according to Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Court records indicate that in August 2024, investigators from the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group – Drug Unit (LWAM) searched Sloan’s vehicle, residence, and several storage units. Authorities seized over seven pounds of methamphetamine, more than $140,000 in cash, four firearms, and a vehicle during the operation. Sloan admitted to obtaining large quantities of methamphetamine from a supplier in California and distributing over 20 pounds of the drug in the Fox Valley area.
Sloan’s criminal history includes more than 40 prior convictions dating back to 1985. At the time of his arrest, he was under state supervision for another methamphetamine distribution conviction.
Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach ordered Sloan to forfeit $142,190 in cash, three handguns, a shotgun, and a 2016 Dodge Challenger as part of his sentence.
The investigation was led by LWAM with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Assistant United States Attorney Alex Duros prosecuted the case.
