Marlboro man receives five-year sentence for child pornography offenses

Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice

A Marlboro resident, Larry Stephen, 46, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. The sentencing took place in Boston federal court before U.S. Senior District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton. In addition to his prison term, Stephen will be subject to five years of supervised release and must pay $13,000 in restitution.

Stephen was arrested on July 18, 2023, following a criminal complaint and later indicted by a federal grand jury in August of that year. Authorities linked him to activity on a social media platform where he received and posted images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. A search conducted at his Marlboro home on June 7, 2023 led to the seizure of his cell phone, which contained evidence supporting the charges.

"United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations in New England; and Jennifer De La O, Director of Field Operations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Boston Field Office made the announcement today." The investigation also received assistance from the Marlboro Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys David G. Tobin and Eric Hawkins from the Major Crimes Unit.

The prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating resources across various agencies.
