Three Miami men indicted on federal drug trafficking and firearms charges

Three men from Miami have been indicted on federal drug trafficking and firearms charges related to the distribution of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and other controlled substances. The indictment, issued by a federal grand jury, names Antwan Bailey, 45; Eddie Gene Worthy Jr., 52; and Willie Weatherspoon, 52.

The indictment alleges that the three men operated their drug trafficking activities through a restaurant and nearby businesses in a Miami retail plaza. According to court records, these locations were used as points for distributing drugs, with the shared parking lot serving as a place for meetings and deliveries.

Weatherspoon, Bailey, and Worthy are charged with conspiracy to distribute and distribution of controlled substances. In addition to these charges, Worthy faces an additional count for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Bailey is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The indictment specifies that the defendants are accused of distributing more than 400 grams of fentanyl, 30 grams of heroin, and marijuana. If found guilty, they could face up to life in prison.

U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida announced the charges along with acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and Special Agent in Charge Brett D. Skiles of the FBI Miami Field Office.

"The FBI Miami is investigating the case," according to officials. "The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and City of Miami Police Department provided invaluable assistance."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Elena Smukler for the Southern District of Florida and Trial Attorneys Jennifer Burns and Jingh Chang from the Criminal Division’s Violent Crime and Racketeering Section are prosecuting this case.

Authorities emphasized that "an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law."
