Guatemalan national pleads guilty to unlawful reentry in eastern Oklahoma

Carlos Arturo Cahuex-Martinez, a 45-year-old Guatemalan national, has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case resulted from an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. According to court documents, Cahuex-Martinez was found in the United States on July 22, 2025. He had previously been removed from the country on three occasions: July 3, 2018; November 13, 2018; and January 26, 2022. The indictment stated that he did not obtain consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security before reentering.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to address illegal immigration and combat transnational criminal organizations through coordinated efforts involving multiple federal programs.

The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson. A presentence investigation report has been ordered as part of sentencing preparations.

A U.S. District Court Judge will decide Cahuex-Martinez’s sentence after reviewing federal guidelines and statutory factors. Until then, he remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the government in this matter.
