An Orleans Parish woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury for bank robbery. Jentonia Williams, 39, of New Orleans, was charged on September 19, 2025, with robbing the Capital One Bank located in the 4100 block of Canal Street earlier this month.
According to court documents, Williams allegedly took United States currency from the bank on September 2, 2025. The branch’s deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
If convicted under Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a), Williams could face up to twenty years in prison, a fine as high as $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment.
"An indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt," said Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
Simpson also commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force for its role in investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Duane A. Evans is prosecuting.
The case falls under Operation Take Back America—a national Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The operation combines resources from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
