U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry recently seized hard narcotics with a combined estimated street value of more than $2.8 million in two separate incidents at the World Trade Bridge.

Port Director Alberto Flores commented on the actions, stating, "Our CBP officers at the Laredo Port of Entry continue to demonstrate exceptional vigilance and dedication in safeguarding our communities from the dangers of illegal narcotics. The interception of over $2.8 million in hard narcotics in these two enforcement actions underscores our commitment to disrupting criminal organizations and protecting the public from harmful substances. These seizures are a testament to the hard work, training, and expertise of our frontline personnel."

The first incident took place on September 24 when a Freightliner truck carrying express consignment shipments was sent for secondary inspection. Officers used canine units and nonintrusive inspection systems to examine the vehicle and found two separate shipments containing nearly 10 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, valued at over $91,000.

A second seizure occurred on September 25 when a Kenworth tractor hauling stone bricks was referred for further examination. Using similar inspection methods, officers discovered over 200 pounds of alleged cocaine hidden within the shipment. The cocaine's street value was estimated at more than $2.7 million.

The total value of narcotics seized in both cases reached approximately $2,852,320. CBP confiscated all drugs involved in these incidents, and Homeland Security Investigations is currently investigating both cases.

CBP describes itself as America’s largest law enforcement organization and highlights its role in protecting U.S. borders through law enforcement activities on land, air, and sea.
