A Salvadoran national living in Lynn, Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported. Emelio Neftaly Pineda, 46, entered his plea on September 26, 2025, in federal court in Boston.

Pineda admitted to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. U.S. Senior District Court Judge Patti B. Saris set sentencing for October 30, 2025. Pineda was indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2025.

Court documents state that Pineda was previously deported around July 20, 2016, following a felony conviction.

The charge carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Upon completion of any imposed sentence, Pineda is subject to deportation again. Sentencing decisions are made by a federal district court judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
