Two senior officials from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Information and Technology have been recognized for their contributions to homeland security and innovation.
Sonny Bhagowalia, Assistant Commissioner and Chief Information Officer, received the 2025 FedScoop 50 Golden Gov Award. This is the fourth time Bhagowalia has earned this recognition, which honors leaders who have driven innovation and transformation in government to improve mission outcomes and public services. He is noted as the only component-level CIO among this year’s seven Golden Gov recipients.
Michelle Zebrowski, CBP’s Chief Data Officer, was named to Homeland Security Today’s “Homeland’s 50 Trailblazers” list. The award highlights her leadership in developing new solutions that strengthen national security and protect the public. According to Homeland Security Today, those on the Trailblazers list are recognized for addressing major threats and vulnerabilities through innovative approaches. Zebrowski will receive her award at a ceremony in Tysons Corner, Virginia on September 30.
