Tru Fru, LLC has announced that its third-party manufacturer, Georgia Nut Company (GNC), is voluntarily recalling certain varieties of Tru Fru Freeze Dried products due to the possible presence of metal fragments. The company stated that hard or sharp foreign objects in food can cause injuries such as lacerations and perforations to tissues in the mouth, throat, stomach, and intestine, as well as damage to teeth and gums.

The recalled products include Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate and Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème. These items were distributed across the United States through various retail outlets and online stores. Retailers where consumers may have purchased these products include Albertson’s, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard’s, and Target.

According to Tru Fru's statement: "There have been no reported cases of injury or illness to date." The recall was initiated after a consumer reported the issue to the company.

The affected packages can be identified by a 10-digit manufacturing code on the back; specific codes are listed in tables provided by the company. No other Tru Fru products or lots outside those specified are included in this recall.

Tru Fru indicated it will collaborate with retailers to remove affected items from shelves. Consumers who believe they have purchased a recalled product are advised not to consume it and should dispose of it instead.
