Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama

A Honduran national, Oscar Guillen Orellana, 60, has been sentenced to eight months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The sentencing took place in Mobile, Alabama.

Guillen Orellana was arrested by the Foley Police Department on March 13, 2025, for domestic violence offenses. During his arrest, authorities confirmed his identity and determined that he had previously been convicted of armed robbery in Georgia and illegal reentry into the United States in both the Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama. His most recent conviction for illegal reentry occurred in September 2020 in the Southern District of Alabama, resulting in a 41-month prison sentence. He was deported on November 11, 2022.

After being found back in the United States following his latest arrest for domestic violence, officials noted that Guillen Orellana has been removed from the country three times and convicted of illegal reentry three times.

Chief Judge Beaverstock imposed an eight-month prison sentence along with a three-year term of supervised release. Upon completion of his prison term, Guillen Orellana will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings. He was also ordered to pay $100 in special assessments.

Guillen Orellana admitted to violating the terms of his supervised release related to his 2020 conviction and received an additional eight-month incarceration sentence for this violation. This sentence will run concurrently with his current term.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing. The case was investigated by several agencies including Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Foley Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kacey Chappelear prosecuted the case.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and targeting transnational criminal organizations.
